As I stated in my last post, Unico 20°N 87°W is all-inclusive, redefined. What do I mean by that? Unlimited inclusions. Yep, UNLIMITED INCLUSIONS. This resort offers spa treatments, beauty salon services, AND tours and adventures - all for just 20% gratuity. Which is basically nothing… So, when I got to stay at this dreamy hotel, obviously I took advantage of these little luxuries.
Xtreme Mayan Jungle Tour
First up, zip-lining & rappelling! I must admit, this isn’t the type of activity I usually go for on vacation. In fact, while on vacation, I usually don’t do any activity besides eating, drinking, and swimming. But my best friend enjoys these adventures, so I joined her.
Warning: when they say “Xtreme,” they mean XTREME. Walking up hundreds of steps in the middle of the jungle with zip-lining gear on gets pretty exhausting after some time. But it was all worth it on those 7 zip lines. You can also pick different positions, like upside down or superman, to experience each ride differently.
After zip-lining over the canopy, we rappelled into the jungle to see a freshwater underground river. And let me tell you, it was very refreshing. To wrap up the excursion, we got to enjoy some delicious local cuisine.
Mayan Cenote Experience
For our second excursion, my best friend and I toured cenotes. If you don’t know what a cenote is, it’s a natural sinkhole (from bedrock collapsing) that exposes groundwater underneath. So basically an underground pool. They are very magical - in fact, Mayans believe that they are sacred and spirits reside there when they pass.
Since this is underground, the water is VERY cold. So brace yourself before diving in. You see those icicles? They’re called stalactite. They drip water and calcium salts form stalagmite, which are columns that rise from the floor. When they meet, they create a column. While exploring these caves, it’s very important not to touch these as it will affect the growth of the formations.
Spa Treatments
Yep. Spa treatments are included at Unico 20°N 87°W. I mean, really, what more could you ask for? We arrived at the spa about an hour before our appointments to try out their hydrotherapy. This program is all about using water in various forms and in various temperatures to produce different effects on your body. We were immersed in a sauna, ice bath, jacuzzi, and more.
I was lucky to experience the 80 minute Volcanic Hot Stone Massage. And let me tell you, it was HEAVEN. 80 minutes of pure bliss. If you haven’t had one of these, I highly recommend.
Salon services are also included, and I definitely advise you to take advantage of them. Being a blonde, I have a very strong relationship with my stylist so I opted out of this on my vacation.
