POSITANOOOOO! I mean, could there be a more gorgeous place? Although this was my third trip to Italy, this was my first time exploring Positano. And boy, it did not disappoint.
So from Florence, there are a few ways to get to Positano. I obviously chose the more scenic route - a 3 hour and 20 minute train ride to Salerno and a 5 minute walk to the ferry. On our ride we’d glide past Almalfi and a few others before docking in Positano, 30 minutes later.
This ferry ride earns one of the top 10 moments in my life, no doubt. Besides it being the most gorgeous day, the views are astonishing! My pictures and videos really do not do it justice.
When you get to Positano, you’re right in the heart of the city on the main beach. We paid a porter service to take our luggage up to our villa, because there was no way we were carrying all that up the cliff. There are a bunch of them at the dock, so you don’t have to hire beforehand.
We booked a three-story villa through Airbnb, about ten minutes up the cliff side by car. It was perfect. We were close enough to the heart of town while also being far enough to have a breathtaking view and some quiet. There were three separate apartments so each couple could have their alone time, but they were all connected and lead to a private pool we could enjoy together.

One of the best parts of this villa (besides the view, the pool, the pizza oven on the terrace…) was our private chauffeur service. David made our stay even more amazing by taking us into town and bringing us home after the beach along with making reservations at the town’s best restaurants. They say Positano has a lot of stairs, but Positano REALLY has a lot of stairs. You don’t really understand until you’re there (and feel your legs burning). So we really appreciated having someone help us.
Positano was very relaxing for us (and much needed) after our other two busy stops. We spent our days at the beach or in our infinity pool, and we spent our nights eating delicious seafood. Da Constantino’s cliff view and homemade pastas were some of my favorite of the trip. They even picked us up and dropped us off! We also had some of the best octopus ever at Da Vincenzo, whose ambiance and decor matched its food quality.
Besides the beach, there is a lot more to do in Positano. There are adorable boutiques and artsy vendors around the town center. And believe me, their stuff is super cute - I couldn’t walk away without a handmade pressed flower bracelet to match my sister’s. There are bars and restaurants along the main beach, which are perfect for a couple drinks and marinated olives (with a view). And if you’re into nightlife, I highly recommend Music on the Rocks. We went out for a night and had the best time dancing with other tourists. Don’t worry, the cabs stay out late so you don’t have to climb your way back to your villa in the early morning light.
Another amazing part of the villa was the option to book a private pizza chef - which of course we had to take advantage of. Our friendly private chef came to our villa and used the pizza oven on our terrace to cook us five different types of fresh, delicious pizza. There was so much food, we couldn’t finish everything (but you better believe we did in the morning). It was only 24 euros a person, totally worth it.
And the next morning, we woke up early to watch the sunrise and say goodbye to Positano the only way we knew.
